[edit] silly but potentially useful template
Hello. Thanks for your edits on the blah article. Unfortunately, I've reverted it because it's not authenticated and appears to be silly; some might construe this as vandalism. However, if accurate, it may be useful for the article. Others can better evaluate it if you describe the incident in encyclopedic tone, from a neutral point of view, and provide reliable third-party documentation for the incident. --~~~~

Hi JohnJacobJingleheimerSchmidt -- I deleted a category that you had added to the John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt article, [[:Category:{{{tag}}}]]. Per WP:CAT, categories are to be added only where they are "defining" attributes of the subject of the article; see also overcategorization which explains that trivial aspects of people or subjects of articles are overcategorization, and why that's to be avoided. It's particularly important that folks who add categories understand how they work (and don't work), because there's no easy way to police categories -- thus, adding an inappropriate category to an article might not get noticed for a while. I do a lot of work with categories, so I'll be happy to answer any questions you have, or talk about them in more detail. Best, --Lquilter (talk) 15:49, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
