The BlackCat Anarchist Collective is a small and inactive libertarian communist group in Auckland, New Zealand. It was "officially" started after an occupation of Auckland's central ANZ bank in protest against the bank's involvement in Iraq.[1] Members of the group had been involved in other political activity prior to the groups forming. Blackcat was focused on class struggle and direct action as a tactic and principle for destroying capitalism through social revolution. The primary tactic of the group was involvement in workplace struggle and community issues. The group is now defunct.[2] Blackcat's former members are now involved in the union movement, animal rights organising, the Auckland Anarcho-Feminist Syndicate, Food not Bombs, Critical Mass, supporting the Organisasi Papua Merdeka, Radical Youth, Indymedia and Students for Justice in Palestine.
