Lawrence P Kaster was born in 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He received his BA in 1974 at the University of Dallas in Irving. His primary focus was Ceramics, but he also learned photography, drawing, and printmaking. For several years he worked as a Studio Potter in on Oak Cliff, sold his work in craft fairs and galleries in the US, and participated in many juried exhibits.
In 1979 he decided to pursue a Graduate degree and attended Southern Methodist University, receiving his MFA in 1982.
His work included painting and printmaking in addition to ceramics, and after graduation he began painting for commercial spaces all over the world. He still produces ceramics and woodwork for special projects. Occasional private commissions fill out his busy creative schedule.
His other interests include alternative energy, future forecasting and experimental music. Currently working on his first handmade analog electronic instrument, part of which is a Theremin, and includes a synthesizer keyboard. Samples of his music can be found here
