Single= One or two songs

usually one or two songs that are pre-releases to a new album. Usually 1-10 minutes in length.

EP= Extended Play

shorter than an album but too long to be a single Usually ranging from 3 to 8 songs in length, and are usually under 40 minutes

LP=Long Play

sometimes the same thing as a regular album, but mostly a two disk colletion of songs or a longer than average album

Time and songs greatly range from 9 to infinity. Anything longer than 40 minutes can pretty much be considered and LP
