Loyola University New Orleans College of Law is a law school in New Orleans, Louisiana affiliated with Loyola University New Orleans. Loyola's law school opened in 1914. The School of Law was renamed the College of Law with the passage of the PATHWAYS Plan on May 19, 2006. The College of Law is one of only three law schools in the nation to offer curricula in both the Civil Law of Louisiana and the Common Law of the 49 other states (the others are Tulane University Law School and Paul M. Hebert Law Center).
The College houses the Gillis Long Poverty Law Center, a legal research and education center. The school is famous for its success in national and international moot court competitions. William P. Quigley is the current Director. [1]
In addition, the school has one of the most extensive overseas study programs in the United States which provides students with the opportunity to broaden their education into all areas of international law.[citation needed] The school's Sports and Entertainment Law Society provides students interested in legal careers in music, film, and sports with unique opportunities to meet and learn from experts in these respective areas.
