[edit] Biography
In the midst of a bustling San Diego music scene, Lower Definition has managed to stay on top of the pile playing for packed crowds at nearly every show. Having been invited to play with bands ranging from Angels and Airwaves to Atreyu and tours such as The Vans Warped Tour, The Taste of Chaos, and the Saints and Sinners Festival in New Jersey, they’ve established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. The band is made up of four good friends: Valentino Arteaga (drums), Matt Geise (vocals), Eddy Marshburn (guitar), and Stefan Toler (bass).
[edit] Lineup Changes
"Lower D," as they are affectionately referred to by core fans, have had their fair share of lineup changes since their beginning in 2002. When they went into SCM Recordings in Santee, CA to record their debut EP Moths, they had a second guitarist Mark Luciano who, along with Geise, came from the band The Red Sky. When on tour advertising Moths, Mark had to leave the band for personal reasons. The band was forced to continue the remainder of their tour with only one guitarist. Despite this minor setback, they managed to still draw crowds of hundreds to every venue.
When they returned from their Moths release tour, They began writing their debut full-length cd, The Greatest Of All Lost Arts. They also recruited John "Death" Martinez, former member of A Static Lullaby. He helped write a few of the songs, played a few shows with the band, but he, too was forced to leave the band due to personal reasons.
There is no word on if the band is looking for a replacement or not. But with no plans of slowing down, Lower Definition plan to release their Ferret Records debut, The Greatest Of All Lost Arts with their current, four-piece lineup, this summer with producer Kris Crummett (Drop Dead Gorgeous, Kaddisfly, Dance Gavin Dance) at Interlace Audio in Portland, Oregon.
