Low Pass is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States, five miles east of Blachly and eleven miles west of Cheshire, in the Siuslaw River Basin.[1] The settlement revolves around a small pullout on Highway 36 featuring a gas station, a convenience store, and the locally famous cafe Eat at Joe's, which serves as an unofficial community center for rural residents.[2][3] The settlement is named for its location on a slight rise approaching the foothills of the Coast Range mountains, in contrast to the nearby mountain pass High Pass.[4] Much of the land west of Low Pass consists of old-growth forest owned by the Bureau of Land Management.[5][6]
