Lover, Wiltshire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lover (pronounced like Dover) is an hamlet in the Salisbury district of Wiltshire, England, close to the county border with Hampshire and the New Forest National Park. It is part of the parish of Redlynch.[1]

The hamlet was best known locally for the Redlynch Church of England voluntary aided primary school,[2] recognised as offering education at such a high level that it attracted children from far beyond the local, parish-based catchment area.[citation needed] However, in early 2007, the school was closed.

The Lover Post Office does big business around Valentine's Day, as the cards are postmarked "Lover".[3]

The "Lover" road sign is often stolen.
