Lovely to See You is a 1969 song by the progressive rock band The Moody Blues. It was written by the band's guitarist Justin Hayward, and was recorded and released in 1969 on the Moody Blues Album On the Threshold of a Dream.
As with the two previous Moody Blues' albums (Days of Future Passed and In Search of the Lost Chord), On the Threshold of a Dream opens with a poem written by Graeme Edge, which then segues into the following song. In this same manner, the poem "In the Beginning," which then segues into "Lovely to See You," open the album. On most of the Moody Blues' compilation albums including "Lovely to See You," the very end of "In the Beginning" is still heard at the beginning of the song.
Despite not being released as a single, "Lovely to See You" is a fan favorite, and is often performed in concert. The song's popularity also led the Moody Blues to name one of their live albums after it. Lovely to See You: Live was recorded at a performance at the Greek Theater, and was released in 2005, with the song "Lovely to See You" as the lead track.
