Lovejoy Independent School District
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lovejoy Independent School District is a public school district in Collin County, Texas (USA).
The district serves the city of Lucas, most of Fairview, and a small portion of Allen.
The district was founded in 1917 from the consolidation of the Forest Grove and Lick Springs schools; its name is taken from Mrs. J.L. Lovejoy, a local resident who was a strong proponent of educational causes.
Until fall 2006, the school operated a K-8 program only; all high school (grades 9 through 12) students were bussed to Allen High School in the neighboring Allen Independent School District. In fall 2006, after a successful bond election, Lovejoy High School opened [1].
