Love is a Mix Tape is a memoir by Rob Sheffield which uses fifteen mix tapes as a way of framing the story of his courtship and marriage with Renée Crist, a fellow DJ, graduate student, and mix tape aficionado, before her death from a pulmonary embolism in 1997. Much of the book, both spiritually and anecdotally, is a tribute to Sheffield's interest in popular music and culture of the 1990s.

GQ magazine published an excerpt in its January 2007 edition.
