Love Showdown is a four part mini-series that features characters from Archie Comics. The story got more publicity than any other event in Archie history[citation needed]. Part 1 is in Archie #429. Part 2 is in Betty #19. Part 3 is in Betty and Veronica #83 and Part 4 is in Veronica #39. The story is that Archie Andrews receives a mysterious love letter. When the two girls Betty and Veronica, who are in love with Archie, finds out, both think the other one sent it. As the story unfolds the reader finds out that it actually was a girl from Archie's past that sent the letter - Cheryl Blossom. Archie, who has been undecided whether he should choose Betty or Veronica, instead in an unexpected move chooses the new girl.
Love Showdown was written by Bill Golliher and Dan Parent in the mid-1990s.
Later on they made Archie's Love Showdown Special which follows up on events from the four part mini series. In that 48-page story Archie returns to the former status quo between Betty and Veronica.
