"Love Rescue Me" is the eleventh track from U2's 1988 album, Rattle and Hum. It is a collaboration between the band and Bob Dylan, who also provides vocals to the recording. A live version, featuring Ziggy Marley, was released on the "Angel of Harlem" single as a B-side.
[edit] Performance history
"Love Rescue Me" was first performed live on 16 October 1988; this was the source of the "Angel of Harlem" B-side.[1] Its next live appearance was at the first concert of the Lovetown Tour on 21 September 1989 in Perth. It was played at 46 of the tour's 47 shows and closed four of them.[2] It was performed as a duet during an encore with B.B. King and his band, and its omission on 18 December 1989 was due to that encore being cancelled and the show ending prematurely due to Bono suffering vocal problems.[3] Its last performance took place at the final Lovetown concert, on 10 January 1990 in Rotterdam.[4]
After the Lovetown Tour, "Love Rescue Me" has only appeared live once, as a lyrical snippet. On the fourth leg of the Vertigo Tour, Bono sung part of it at the end of "All I Want Is You", the final song of the 21 February 2006 concert in São Paulo.[5]
