IMDb profile

Love Me, Love My Mouse is a 1966 Tom and Jerry cartoon directed and produced by Chuck Jones and co-directed by Ben Washam. The cartoon's title is a play-on-words of the phrase Love me, love my dog.

[edit] Plot

Tom falls in love with a female cat and flies to her house, in a dreamlike trance, carrying a fuming Jerry in a ring box. Tom presents Jerry to his love interest. Jerry then pretends to be frightened of Tom and cuddles up to the female cat, who instantly sympathises with him, now taking sides with Jerry, as it was. Jerry, then plays tricks on Tom by entering Tom's mouth, leading to the female cat hitting Tom to rescue Jerry. Tom later captures Jerry and tries to do away with him once and for all by crushing him with a safe, suspended in air by a rope that Tom is holding. The female cat storms in and marches towards Tom and picks up Jerry. Tom holds out his hands for a hug, but lets go of the rope and is crushed under the weight of the safe. In the final scene, the female cat repeatedly kisses Jerry, and in the process, finds him tasty and prepares to eat him, chasing the mouse out of the house, while a bandaged Tom hobbles behind.
