[edit] History

Love Equals Death is a punk rock band out from Petaluma, California. The band was formed on Halloween night, 2003. The band currently consists of Chon Travis (vocals), Tonio Garcia-Romero (drums), Duffs (guitar), newest members added in March 2008, Sean Jordon (bass) and Bryan Kelly-Holden (rhythm guitar). Love Equals Death has toured extensively, including tours with bands such as AFI, Pennywise, Tiger Army, NOFX, Strike Anywhere, Avenged Sevenfold, TSOL, and The Distillers (who Ryan Sinn also played bass for).

Love Equals Death has released two EPs—Hucklebuck and Four Notes on a Dying Scale—and an album, Nightmerica, which was produced, engineered, and mixed by Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore.

[edit] 2007-Present

In late March 2007, bassist Dominic Davi was arrested on rape charges in Philadelphia (the alleged crime occurred in June 2006).[1] Davi parted ways with the band in order to focus on his defense[2]. Within months, the band recruited Ryan Sinn, who had recently been let go by Angels & Airwaves (AVA), as Davi's replacement. Davi was acquitted of the rape charge in late 2007 and now makes an online weekly comic strip titled "The Rock N Roll Palace Of Love," [3], which occasionally features cartoon depictions of Love Equals Death.

On October 12, 2007, the band posted a new song on their MySpace page called "Last Dance." They are working on material for a second album.[citation needed]

On March 4, 2008, it was announced by Chon Travis that Ryan Sinn had left the band on good terms, Travis posted this on the band's Myspace blog[4]:

Good morning all, thanks for tuning in. Love Equals Death was founded about four years ago by our own Tonio Garcia Romero Jr. During those few years of our existence, the band has seen some pretty amazing things, both good and bad. We witnessed our rise as a band and the fall of a very close friend. We've watched people with the power of influence choose to look at integrity as an obstacle rather than a way of life. Where we chose to remain silent, we watched others choose speculation. In other words we've seen a great deal in a short time. We have seen the front lines of change and deception and we've managed to make it through the storm once again. With change comes the will to adapt or the vision of failure. This is a hard business to be in if your looking for glory. We chose to adapt! With the loss of our original bass player came hope, bitterness, and confusion. The hope came in the form of Mr. Ryan Sinn. We became mobile again through that storm and made our way to the clearing. It was a short lived, but very appreciative run as he had to move on to bigger and better things, as did we. He will be missed, but has made it clear that he is just a phone call away. Seeming down, but not out came another blessing of unexpected surprise. My friend Sean Jordon had been doing merch for us and is a known bass player from my home town of Ukiah, CA stepped up to the plate and went to Europe with us as fill-in only to be crowned The LED Bassman. We welcome him as his skills proved to be a perfect fit for this group.

Without hesitation, we returned home with much enthusiasm and writing in our hearts, but we needed something. We couldn't quite get what it was. things seemed to work up until now, but what was it. We played what appeared to be a ton of shows, but couldn't seem to put our finger on what was missing. Well, during the last week of practice we figured it out. His name is Bryan Kelly-Holden. He will be playing rhythm guitar to give our lead man, Duffs the foundation he needs to shred like he's always wanted. We have witnessed a lot of change and we have kept our minds and spirits open. We look forward to the road ahead and we look forward to seeing our true fans and friends out there who I personally know are the best any band can dream of. We will be taking this new energy into the studio mid-April for what we anticipate as being our best recordings yet. See you at the shows.

Love Your Humble Writer, Chon D. Travis
