Lovatts Publications, (or Lovatts) were established on the Central Coast in 1978, Lovatts Publications has developed into Australia's leading crossword and puzzle publishing company, with a range of 20 crossword and puzzle titles, 12 in the top 10% of magazines sales. A family owned and operated business started by James and Christine Lovatt, it has been an Australian success story ever since.

Christine Lovatt is best known for her cryptic and giant crosswords - particularly the Colossus and the BIG. The Colossus appears each month in the Australian Women's Weekly and the BIG appears weekly in Woman's Day (a regular feature for the past twenty years). The Colossus and BIG are also titles in their magazine range.

Christine’s Cryptic is very popular and at times she has been named “the Cryptic Queen”.

Their puzzles also appear in NW, Qantas In-flight magazine, TV Week, Take 5 and various other publications sold throughout Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Ireland

They are staunch supporters of various campaigns i.e. Red Cross, Life. Be in it., World Vision, National Literacy and Numeracy Week, MS Readathon and many smaller charity organisations. Christine has appeared regularly on many radio and television programs over the years and is often asked to speak at various functions.

  • BIG

The BIG CROSSWORD is the feature puzzle in this title. It has large easy-to-read grids and clues in large type. The magazine has 64 pages of puzzles and is established as their biggest selling monthly puzzle title.

  • Colossus

The Colossus is the feature crossword puzzle in this title. This puzzle is the original giant crossword which brought the Lovatt style of puzzle to fame – 64 pages of crosswords with differing degrees of difficulty.

  • Super Sudoku

Lovatts were first with Sudoku in Australia and they still lead the pack. Sales of their various Sudoku and Kakuro titles lead both segments of the crossword marketplace [4
