I removed the hatnote because the only way to get to the page is to enter exactly Oakland Cemetery (Iowa City, Iowa). No dab is necesssary. --CliffC 20:23, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Infobox NFL Player
While I appreciate your efforts to improve this template as I seriously believe a universal North American football player template should be used, retired or not and I think the use of the team colour template is a good idea (though the design of that template should have only included colour numbers), you should be aware that changes you make affect the appearance of 7000 articles. Please test templates in your sandbox first before applying them to active templates. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:15, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- I said I like the use of colour template. I am concerned about changing the template live and I don't like the formatting of the top section. Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Infobox_NFL_player DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:25, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- I am aware of the team colour template use and I approve. No problem (though, as I said NFLPrimaryColor and SecondaryColor would have been much better designed with only colour numbers instead of including "background:" and "color:"). What I don't like is the weird all left formatting in the top section. DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:39, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Correct. colspan=2 is the problem. DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:44, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Let me have a go at it. Message me when you are not currently editing it so we don't have an edit conflict. DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:53, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Though you didn't message me, it appeared that you were no longer working on it, so I went ahead and changed it. I'm done with it for today. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 21:25, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rename
I've been thinking about your rename proposal. I like this idea of a general football infobox to cover all leagues and a more league-neutral name seems appropriate. I'm not sure I like "gridiron football sportsperson" but I can't think of a better name yet. North American football player? I don't know. At any rate, I would leave the {{Infobox NFL player}} as a redirect as it's more intuitive (as is {{Infobox CFL player}}) and should there be another move towards separate league infoboxes, it can be achieved with little work. DoubleBlue (Talk) 07:09, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Wow. Odd that someone objects so strongly to using an NFL infobox for an AFL player. I didn't know there was a pro football player infobox. I think that Infobox NFL player and the pro football player infobox should be merged but probably to a new name as soccer enthusiasts could rightly object to using "pro football" as well. DoubleBlue (Talk) 16:45, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm thinking there's no better name than {{Infobox gridiron football player}} or do you prefer {{Infobox gridiron football person}}? Why did you propose sportsperson instead of player? DoubleBlue (Talk) 17:14, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Good point. I favour {{Infobox gridiron football person}} then. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 17:41, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- If we say 'person' rather than 'player', doesn't that suggest that coaches and referees are also included? --CliffC (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 19:37, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, that was Louis Alberto Guel's point as well at User talk:DoubleBlue#Rename and I agree that would make this infobox more useful. I know, for example, it is in use at Pinball Clemons, who is an ex-player, ex-coach, now CEO of a team. Perhaps we should have this discussion in a more central location to keep things together. give it up, your not going to win this, also I dont know why you bother editing the Template:Infobox Gridiron football person its being replaced and pretty soon it wont be used at all--Yankees10 16:44, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox Gridiron football person header
Good day! I am opposed to the idea of putting the jersey number and position in the header of the infobox. I believe it should be reserved for the name of the person only. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (infoboxes) also hints at this in the "Design and usage" section. Do you object strongly to me moving those parameters back to within the box itself? [edit] Madden NFL 09
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Madden NFL 09, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Madden NFL 09. Killswitch Engage (talk) 04:15, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] height and weight
I moved height and weight to career info since it is only of interest in the playing career of the individual. In this template, which is used for players, coaches, and admins, as well as former players, it is best, I think, that the height and weight be mentioned only with the career parameters; any other reference may be a WP:BLP contravention. In fact, I considered a more drastic make-over to put it within the Years as a player section but discarded that idea as a too major change requiring a more complete over-haul. DoubleBlue (Talk) 00:50, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh and why remove the records, awards and whatnot from copy-paste documentation? DoubleBlue (Talk) 00:54, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
the {{career_highlights}} parameter is replacing the other highlights parameters. Although it's still being used, but it shouldn't be. So it many articles that uses that should be removed. --Louis Alberto Guel 00:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. Why? Those parameters do fall under the Career highlight and awards heading already and seem to be a handy way to organise them. What's wrong with the way it's done at Pinball Clemons? I've used career_highlights in the past to include other highlights that don't fit into those parameters. DoubleBlue (Talk) 01:14, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Oakland Raiders seasons
I have nominated Oakland Raiders seasons, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oakland Raiders seasons. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
