The Investor Awareness Index is a free rating service for U.S. investors that evaluates public companies that trade on the NYSE, AMEX, Nasdaq, OTC, and Pink Sheets.[1] The 0-10 rating scale sheds light on a public company's commitment to communicate its story, generate investor interest, grow its shareholder base, and foster liquidity.[2]
Ratings are based on a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of specific investor awareness activities in which a company is engaged. [3] A higher score indicates that a company has undertaken many or most of the activities that comprise the scoring. A lower score conveys that a company is involved in only a few of the activities designed to reach out to the investment community.[4]
The scoring disregards activities solely designed to create short-lived spikes in volume and surges and drops in stock price.
Unlike many stock rating services such as USA Today's Stock Meter,[5]Investor's Business Daily's Stock Checkup,[6] TradingMarkets.com's PowerRatings,[7] and numerous others that offer buy/sell recommendations, determine risk, or analyze stock price, the Investor Awareness Index analyzes only the investor awareness initiatives in which a publicly traded company is engaged, thus providing investors and traders with a rating or indication of how much a company is doing to reach out to the investment community in order to create awareness of its offering, and to augment its shareholder base.
