[edit] Editing

I seem to remember the school changing from football to rugby in 1947. Corrrect me if I'm wrong.

Personally I am disgusted that I have been stopped from editing this page as the "student" at the bottom is in fact a boy who has been in trouble with the school on several separate occasions and is intentionally ruining the school's reputation. He only has a bad life at this school because he makes it bad for himself. This student is one Thomas Frankenburg and I demand that his "testimony" be stricken from this article!

New entry:

Personally, I am disgusted that the school attempts to rewrite history, in such an arrogant and self-serving way. I believe that representatives of the school have repeatedly edited undesirable material from this article, even if the material was verifiably true (in contradiction of Wikipedia's edit policy): The old boy Mark Collett, the child pornography case, and the drug-taking incident were three examples. While being understandable that the school should want to maintain it's reputation, I see it as completely intolerable to engage in such Orwellian cover-ups. With regard to the comments posted by the above user:

1. You have not been "stopped from editing this page." You merely need to create an account. The button to do so is in the top right of the main page.

2. Naming the student: I feel that this is remarkably bad etiquette. No-one who will read this page cares who the disillusioned student is, and naming him serves no purpose other than to boost your ego and invade his privacy.

3. You have NO right to demand that his testimony be "stricken from this article." Wikipedia is free to be edited by anyone, and individual users cannot force others to remove what they see as bad.

4. Whether the individual in question was being slanderous or not, it does not matter, for his comments were swiftly removed.

5. Claiming that the student has a "bad life at the school because he makes it bad for himself" does seem a tad narrowminded, and would indeed appear to reiterate what the student was saying. If, as he claims, the student is dyslexic, then it seems stupid to claim this.

People are allowed opinions, furthermore they are allowed to express them as long as doing it does not directly infringe upon someone else's wellbeing. (Article 19, Universal Declaration of Human Rights.)

Actually stuttard thou sucketh

New entry:

I am in agreement with the entry above. What the previous commenter said was in fact illegal and I may decide to take action and take the person to court should I find out who it is.

Shut the hell up frankenburg

New Entry "because you are deliberately slandering the school which is illegal"

lol they don't teach you much at that school do they. Apart from looking down on the disadvantaged and becoming a complete ultra-conservative fascists. Anywho, why should we leave out all the bad things about the schol and merely praise them with their grades (which btw should be expected as they filter out anyone who isn't smart). Someone should really mention the whole burton walks bit. I mean, cutting out the public from an area because they think theyre better than the public is pretty important.

New entry

Is one correct in thinking that this is the old school of someone quite high up in the BNP lineup? Deputy leader rings a bell. - no - Mark Collett ran for council and (I think Parliament) under the BNP banner, he was also the leader of the Youth BNP, the West Yorks organiser and was tipped to be the new leader. After his dismissal from the party after the "Young, Nazi and Proud" documentary, he was expelled from the party (well, he 'resigned'), but I think he's now back in the loop.

[edit] slander on this article

This article has been vandalized recently so badly that it could lead to legal trouble for Wikipedia.

There is now soft protection for this page but that does not seem to stop it. --Walter 22:37, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Freedom Of Speech

Recently, Wikipdedia ran into some trouble with American politicions after it was deiscovered they had been editing bits of information on their pages in order to make them seem less, well quite frankly "currupt"

Now, i believe the same thing has happened on this article. There is no mention of the closing of the Burton Walks in order to keep their kids "safe" from "evil normal people with less money" (obviously in the article it should be NPOV unlike what i have just said)and there is no mention of the recent expulsion of Thomas Frankenberg, whether he should be named or not (i believe not) it should be mentioned. Finally, i think the whole article stinks of NPOV and the typical slimy grammar school stench.

Every article on Wikipedia is supposed to "stink of NPOV", since it is Wikipedia Policy. If you think that Wikipedia is, therefore, in league with the grammar schools of the world, since they share that same "stench", perhaps you should endeavour to stay as far from Wiki as you do from LGS. [edit] A new bid for neutrality and verification

Is there a way to add more recent history, perhaps citing verifiable sources (local papers, tv or radio) to deliver a factual, neutral account of both the positive and negative aspects? I would hope it is not beyond this commmunity to deliver here.

There are, for instance, a number of articles on the Leicester Mercury website which could be cited.

Link Link Link Link Link Link on the Robert Dockerill case

Link to a transcript of the recent "Any Questions" show recorded at LGS

Linkto an article about the new thumbprint registration system on the BBC

Link to an article about the Burton Walks on the BBC

Link to an example of LGS fundraising in action, again at the BBC

Link to George Beazley's MBE as part of the Honours List, at the Beeb

And whilst the Loughborough Echo isn't archived online, someone must have copies of the articles about the cannabis-related incidents and regarding Mark Collett and Robert Dockerill, as well as the never-ending stream of articles about sporting success, academic achievement and charitable fundraising as well as the school's prominent role in the community. So let's see if we can't put together a high-quality, neutral article full of interesting stuff and cited where appropriate. Too much to ask?
