From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lourie-Love Field was a soccer stadium located on the campus of Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. It was home to the Princeton Tigers soccer teams.
In 1986, the former Bedford Field was named after Princeton football alumni Donold B. Lourie and George H. Love, both 1922 graduates, and seated 2,000 spectators.
Lourie-Love Field hosted its last soccer games on November 4, 2006, when the Princeton men and women faced the University of Pennsylvania. It will be renovated in 2007 and re-opened as Princeton Soccer Stadium for the 2008 soccer season. The Princeton soccer teams will play their 2007 seasons at Princeton Stadium, which is home to the Princeton football team and occasional lacrosse matches.
In 2004, Lourie-Love Field hosted four NCAA tournament games as the Princeton women's team defeated Central Connecticut State University, Villanova University, Boston College and the University of Washington to advance to the College Cup, which was held in Cary, North Carolina. More than 2,500 fans watched Princeton defeat Washington to become the first Ivy League team to advance to the final four of a 64-team tournament in any sport.
