Louisiana Highway 979 (LA 979) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves Pointe Coupee Parish. It spans 2.53 miles. Although the roadway runs geographically in a west/east direction, it is considered to be a north/south roadway due to it being an odd numbered highway.

LA 979 begins at an intesection with LA 78 north of Livonia, near the community of Frisco. It travels southward follows along the north bank of Bayou Grosse Tete and comes to an end an intersection with LA 978, near the community of Torbert.
It is an undivided, two-lane highway for its entire length.
