Louis Quatorze (foaled 1993) is an American thoroughbred stallion racehorse. He was sired by Sovereign Dancer, who in turn was a son of the great 1964 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, Northern Dancer out of the mare, On To Royalty.
Trained by Nick Zito, he had four starts at age 2, coming in second in the Hopeful Stakes and the Futurity Stakes.
At three, however, ridden by Pat Day, he equalled the record time of 1:53 2/5 set by Tank's Prospect in 1985 by taking the lead over a fast track in the 1996 Preakness Stakes.
Later that year, he placed second to Alphabet Soup in the Breeder's Cup Classic, defeating the great Cigar, who came in third.
[edit] Retirement
Louis Quatorze currently stands at stud at Murmur Farm in Maryland for the fee of $10,000 live foal. He has sired graded stakes race winners Repent, Choctaw Nation, and Bushfire.
