Louis Oscar Griffith

Louis Oscar Griffith (18751956) was an American painter knownn for his landscapes. He was a student and lifetime friend of artist Frank Reaugh, an Illinois native who moved to Texas in 1876 to begin sketching scenes of the American West. In 1880, when he was five years of age, Griffith moved with his family from Indiana to Texas. In 1893, he began studying art in St. Louis. In 1895, he enrolled at the Chicago Art Institute. He was a major prize winner in the Davis competition.
