Louis Murphy (born May 11, 1987 in St. Petersburg, Florida) is wide receiver on the University of Florida Gators football team. Murphy played at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was ranked as the 37th best wide receiver by Rivals.com in 2005. [1] Murphy received a scholarship to the University of Florida where he did not play much during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He is now starting on the 2007 squad.

Murphy played high school at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he was a highly recruited Wide Receiver. He chose to go to Florida over other top Division 1 Schools.

[edit] 2005 Season

Murphy played very little in 2005, his Freshman year. He mostly played on Special teams.

Murphy like his Freshman year, didn't play much his sophomore year. However he did get his first touchdown catch and reception, against LSU from Freshman Tim Tebow [2]

The 2007 season has been a lot better for Louis Murphy. He earned a spot on the starting roster during the Spring.[3] He has played very well for the Gators, being one of the top receivers on the team. After the end of the regular season, he has 36 catches for 544 yards. He has caught 5 touchdown passes, and also has 1 rushing attempt for 12 yards.[4]
