Louis H Schwitzer was born in Europe and emigrated to America before World War I. As an engineer, he was influential in designing hydraulics for use in bus transportation. He also invented the turbo charger and won the first race on the Indianapolis Speedway.
Schwitzer donated many buildings to schools and colleges in Indiana. He had one son, Louis H Schwitzer Jr.
