Louis Ehlert

Louis Ehlert (January 23, 1825, KönigsbergJanuary 4, 1884, Wiesbaden) was a German composer and music critic.

Ehlert entered the Leipzig Conservatory in 1845, where he studied under Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. He moved to Berlin in 1850 to teach at the Schule des höheren Klavierspieles founded by Carl Tausig. Later he taught in Meiningen and finally in Wiesbaden.

Ehlert composed a Spring Symphony, an overture, and a Requiem for a Child, as well as numerous pieces for piano, choral works, and lieder.
