Louie Bennett

Louie Bennett (1870-1956) was an Irish suffragette, Trades Unionist and journalist and writer born in Ireland. In 1927 she was the first woman to be elected President of the Irish Trades Union Conference and in the same year was elected to the executive committee of the Labour Party.^[1] She was also the founder of the Irish Women Workers' Union. In later life she campaigned against nuclear power.
