Loughguile's hurling team is the only team in Ulster to have won the All Ireland club championship, doing so in 1983. However since then the team has struggled at senior level and have yet to recapture the glory days. However, the Loughiel Shamrocks have great success at under age level and have many great young hurlers on the county panel.
