Lou Palmer

Lou Palmer (July 26, 1932January 18, 2008), born Louis A. Perunko Jr. in Wheeling, West Virginia, was an American radio personality and announcer, best known for his work on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network.

In 1953, Perunko moved to Indiana, and soon joined WIBC, where he worked until the 1980s. It was there that he changed his on-air name to "Palmer."

Palmer worked as a pit reporter on the IMS radio network, and interviewed the winner of the Indianapolis 500 from 1963-1987. From 1988-1989, Palmer served as the Chief Announcer for the Indianapolis 500. He left the network prior to the 1990 race.

Palmer served as announcer on the short-lived CART radio network in the mid-1990s.
