Lotus, Florida

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lotus is a former town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. It is home to Honeymoon Hill, the highest point on the mainland peninsula, Merritt Island. In some sections of the area, citrus groves grow between the Indian and Banana rivers. However, only 1 major road run's through the area, and that's CR 3, accessible by the Pineda Causeway. Both Lotus and Tropic are visible by the Pineda Causeway, ether westbound or eastbound. That section of road is part of the Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway system. Lotus is one of the wealthiest areas in Brevard County, with mansions located on the Indian River at the southern part of the area. Another wealthy area is at Tropic, south of the Pineda Causeway. During the beginning of the Space Age, it was later annexed into the larger Merritt Island.
