[edit] A Thousand Years of Dreams
It would be nice to have a section where each one of the dreams is briefly summarized. Anyone want to help me out with that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryulen1325 (talk • contribs) 16:06, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- That will be too wordy and large, there are at least 20 dreams. Luigi6138 (talk) 21:54, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Another page for it then? There should also be a seperate characters page as well, I think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.43.1 (talk) 20:42, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Characters
We need to add a section where each of the main characters of the story is briefly summarized. Ryulen1325 10:05:00, 21 February 2008.
[edit] Voice list
I removed this entire selection because this game contains English, Japanese, German, French, Italian and (I believe) Korean [Japanese version only] voice tracks. Cooke's voice doesn't sound near similar in the English and Japanese tracks, so it can be implied that there are different voice actors per language. Only the English ones were listed, and from information gathered from "various message boards". Last time I checked, blogs and forums (unless they are from and the posts are authored by the developer/publisher (i.e. Smash Bros Dojo for Brawl), they are not valid sources. That's why I deleted that whole section. Luigi6138 (talk) 21:54, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
In the future, don't go deleting entire sections without starting something up in the talk comments first. : | Reverted! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.55.162 (talk) 03:47, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Citations
We need to start adding citations and references to this article, while it is still small. The longer we wait the more work we will have to do. If everyone can find at least one reliable site, I'll look into it and pull the references. Anyone want to help me out? (Of course I am looking for site's as well, hopefully, I'll start adding references soon). Ryulen1325 10:44, 25 February 2008;
- Please don't indent your posts like that, to indent a reply (which is all you indent), put a colon (:) right before. To the actual issue, I do agree with you, but the only things that you can source for a game are review articles, journals from the DEVELOPERS, statistic announcements, quotes from the game and the like. For this sort of game, look at Halo 3 as an example of what we should be looking towards. That is the gold standard for 360 game articles, and quite possibly all game articles. [edit] Story
Could other users please look over the 'Story' section and help with editing it? I just looked over disc one and fixed it grammatically, as well as correcting the time line of some events. I am hesitant to go on by myself though, as I am only at the end of disc 2 and don't want to ruin anything for myself. Shint (talk) 19:15, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'll do it... I'm at the end of the game. Luigi6138 (talk) 22:43, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yea I'll help ya out. I've been editing the Story a lot. I just started the fourth disc so I'll clean up the grammar, and what not. The time line of events is also slightly out of whack, we need to work on that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryulen1325 (talk • contribs) 02:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- This is detailed enough. Focus on correcting timeline errors. Luigi6138 (talk) 23:38, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Spoilers!
I just came to browse over the article out of interest, and flicking over the article I read that Seth bloody dies. There really should be spoiler tags and prehaps not having the characters final fates in their brief summaries. 82.19.66.183 (talk) 15:21, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Not our problem. Read Wikipedia:Content disclaimer. You should understand this. Note bullet-point 5: Wikipedia contains spoilers. Luigi6138 (talk) 23:38, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure Wikipedia has WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD tags. Wait, I am certain and they're used in alot of other articles. It's unfair and needless to have unwarned endgame spoilers in an article. 82.19.66.183 (talk) 02:18, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm... Let's think about this for a second: There are details about the plot in the plot section. It should be obvious to anyone reading that section that there are going to be spoilers (if they haven't yet finished the game). I'm pretty sure it's standard not to include spoiler tags for specifically marked plot sections in such articles. --V2Blast (talk) 06:58, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia phased those out a while ago. Now, everything is covered under the disclaimer I mentioned above, especially bullet 5: Wikipedia contains spoilers. Luigi6138 (talk) 23:08, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
So you're saying to the few who just want a small plot summary that if they make a mistake in reading something they didn't want then it's to bad? When you get asked what a movie is about by someone who hasn't seen it yet, you don't tell them what happens to the main character in the story and how it ends, you just tell them the general plotline of the story. Then if they have any more questions about said movie then let them know if you want to spoil it for them. Hence why I'm going to agree you should put a spoiler tag warning or something, I see no reason why this game should be treated any different from others. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.91.57.67 (talk) 15:52, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Once again, spoiler tags were phased out. See Content disclaimer bullet point 5 again: Wikipedia contains spoilers. It is even declared that users should come with knowledge of this phrase earlier in the work (i.e. the hideously large letters at the top of that page). Luigi6138 (talk) 23:08, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey bud, thanks for reposting the spoiler in the discussion tab. Just ruined it for me. Shint (talk) 17:34, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- The thread is titled 'Spoilers', what the hell did you expect? Also, to clarify, I was reading the character bios, not the plot summary. At least it kinda makes sense to have spoilers there, but with bios you're really expecting to read 'Kaim- A man who lived a thousand years but has lost his memories.' And not much else. 82.19.66.183 (talk) 09:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree. Look at Master Chief (Halo), a featured article. It even reveals his "Legendary only" fate from Halo 3. Luigi6138 (talk) 01:34, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
I fail to see why it's necessary to even include this information. Is every intricate plot detail of every character divulged in these bios? No. All you need is a brief explanation, similar to what instruction guides would provide. If you feel certain plot points are worth mentioned, that's to be done in the 'disc' synopsis. 'Seth is a great guy who dies at the end' is not a good bio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.55.162 (talk) 03:50, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Reception Section overly negative
The Recpetion secion needs serious work. For a game that has a metacritic score of 79/100, this secion is far too negative, giving the wrong impression of reality.
The negatives are loaded with weasel words to over-state the cited claims, and even repetitive.
The section should be rewritten.
Wageslave (talk) 18:37, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Seconded. As Metacritic itself states the reviews were generally favorable, the artical sould reflect this. I would do it myself but I am realy enjoying this game and therefore it would be a conflict of interests. --SelfQ (talk) 20:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- I also agree. But I don't have the time to do it. And the main plot summary just needs too much work. Luigi6138 (talk) 01:34, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Don't forget that it's also got a 79.3% in GameRankings. 12.205.224.183 (talk) 04:56, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Whoever changed it has made it ridiculous - it now goes out of its way to mention every single good thing that any notable reviewer said. There's about five or six sentences of "IGN said 'The game was fun.' Gamespy said 'Cool combat system.'" The fact of the matter is, there were some issues with the game. They shouldn't be swept under the rug in the reception section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.55.162 (talk) 03:53, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Voice actors
Where are the voice actors?!? I don't know, but I've added the imdb link in external links so people who actually want to know who the actors were can find that information. JayKeaton (talk) 12:10, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Lost Odyssey II
sould there be a small mention of LOII, seeing that it was anounced some time ago?--SelfQ (talk) 23:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- It could if there was an official announcement for Lost Odyssey 2. Has there been one? (As far as I can tell from my search it's considered to be just a rumor.) -HeavenlyEire (talk) 10:39, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Can we cut down the plot summary?
I realize Lost Odyssey is a big game with four DVDs of content, but glancing over the plot summary, I see much more than a summary, but rather a detailed accounting of virtually all the points of the main plot. I think the plot section of this article is entirely too detailed and could stand to be trimmed quite a bit. (See Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for an article where the plot, while fairly complex, is given at a summary level. I would have used Who Framed Roger Rabbit as an example as well, but the plot there is unnecessarily detailed at the moment - not the way I remembered it being.) — KieferSkunk (talk) — 23:40, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Last few edits
I keep seeing this person married to that person go in and out of this page. Can't we simply put in both character descriptions "Spouse of ..." to remedy this? Kresock (talk) 02:57, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- That's what I put the sentence in (which you deleted). That's fine, just convey the message. Luigi6138 (talk) 00:53, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- I did not delete your edit, another user did (check the article's history). I just thought it could be a better, all-satisfying solution. Kresock (talk) 01:02, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- See my comment directly above this thread: Is this info really necessary? The plot and character descriptions are really a lot more than is necessary to understand the game, and the average reader doesn't need to know that Kaim is married to Sarah or what not. It's crufty. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 02:49, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
