Lostock Hall railway station is 4 kilometres (2¾ mi) south of Preston.

[edit] Description

It is sited close to what was once a large rail junction linking Lancashire services from Preston and Blackburn with destinations across the county and beyond. Following severe cut-backs in the 1960s, lines from Preston through Walton-Le-Dale and Farington/Leyland were closed and the rails lifted. The original Lostock Hall station was at this time demolished.

After a considerable interval of time local pressure led to the building of a new but modest two-platform stop. This was situated on the other side of a road bridge away from the original station. There is no ticket office or clock.

[edit] Services

Monday to Saturdays, there is an hourly service from Lostock Hall towards Preston and Blackpool South, westbound and Blackburn, Burnley and Colne, eastbound. There is a two-hourly service in each direction on Sundays.

Direct bus services between Chorley, Leyland and Preston and beyond run through Lostock Hall on a much more frequent service
