Los Santos (JOGA3)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Los Santos, full official name Liverpool Los Santos [JOGA3], was a team in the Nike JOGA3 futsal tournament, founded by Mazinho. Los Santos competed in the country grouping of UK & ROI (in the U-16 male category) at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Los Santos was the only JOGA3 team from the Liverpool (and in fact the entire county of Merseyside). Despite its quality and success (it was one of eight from its category, 18 overall, to qualify to play on the actual Old Trafford turf), the team were eliminated in the semi-finals at one time (on the Old Trafford pitch mentioned previously, when the official UEFA Champions League anthem was played when the teams were coming out, & lining up) and a final another time (losing on Golden Goal in extra-time Sudden Death), and so failed to reach the UK & ROI Grand Finals at Highbury, thus losing their chance to reach the World Finals in Brazil.
The only player to go everywhere and play every game for Los Santos was Mazinho, who notched up 88 appearances. The all-time top goalscorer is Anthony Gardner, on around 104 goals, although the exact number is not known.
The team captain is also the founder, Mazinho. The vice-captain is Anthony Gardner.
On the official Nike JOGA3 area, information on Los Santos, as well as all the results (all 88 matches), and more JOGA3 stuff, can be found there. The 'latest news' area when on the Manchester - Old Trafford location still has on it about the finals inside Old Trafford stadium. This footage is not known to have ever been released by Nike. If one uses the search option, the team name is quite simply: Los Santos.
