Los Cerrillos is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, United States. It is part of the Santa Fe, New Mexico Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 229 at the 2000 census. Accessible from State Highway 14, Los Cerrillos is on the road from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, closer to Santa Fe. Visitors to the town may stop at the Rock Shop/Petting Zoo/Museum where they can buy samples of various rocks, minerals, and other naturally occurring curiosities, feed chickens, peacocks, goats, and llamas, and tour the Museum of Northern New Mexican History, which contains artifacts from the old west days, and cardboard cutouts of characters from the film Young Guns, which was filmed in and around Los Cerrillos.

Los Cerrillos is located at 35°26′14″N, 106°7′36″W (35.437160, -106.126711)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.6 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 229 people, 111 households, and 59 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 164.5 people per square mile (63.6/km²). There were 129 housing units at an average density of 92.7/sq mi (35.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 79.04% White, 0.44% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 16.16% from other races, and 3.93% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 50.66% of the population.

There were 111 households out of which 21.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.8% were non-families. 41.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.06 and the average family size was 2.83.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 17.9% under the age of 18, 2.2% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 33.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.6 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $13,661, and the median income for a family was $31,161. Males had a median income of $30,446 versus $31,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $14,215. About 25.9% of families and 18.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under the age of eighteen or sixty five or over.
