Los Cadetes de Linares is one of the oldest Norteño groups still in existence. They originate from the small city of Linares, Nuevo León. Many of the original corridos were written and sung by this band. Los Cadetes de Linares started in 1961 with the two brothers Homero and Alfredo Guerrero de la Cerda, then they started to bring into their group the bajo sexto and accordion. They brought Adan Moreno first and second came Samuel Zapata. Homero, Alfredo and Samuel played all of monterrery and part of souther Texas. Alfredo Guerrero sufferd and injury and was forced to leave the musical group. Samuel left the group as well because of family problems. for bother of their places came Lupe Tijerina. They recorded with Ramex records from 72 to early 82. Homero Guerrero would dedicate each presentation to his brother Alfredo Guerrero de la cerda

By the late 1970s Los Cadetes de linares would appear in movies such as, Los Dos Amigos, Entre Hierba polvo y plomo, El Criminal, El hijo del Palenque, and many more. as they were hitting the star point a tragic accident happend to the musical group. In February 19, 1982 Homero Guerrero de la Cerda died in a Car accident. His brother Alfredo, came back in 1980 and was prepared to sing again. once he was well and came back it was too late. His brother had already died. In his memory alfredo guerrero kept a year of love and memory for him. Alfredo guerrero revived the group not with lupe tijerina because lupe had already gotten anther musician named Rosendo Cantu. Alfredo revived the group with his son Alfredo Guerrero jr. They started playing in mexico and all of the United States. At the same time around the early 1990's Rosendo cantu had left lupe tijerina and in his place came along Chuy vega. They recorded on two cds and again lupe tijerina lost another musician. Rosendo cantu came back with lupe tijerina and they were on the road again. Alfredo guerrero continued to play all of mexico and United States. He mad his recordings with Gas Records. yet again lupe tijerina and rosendo cantu sperated and this time for good. Rosendo cantu went to start his group called "Rosendo cantu y sus Cadetes" while lupe tijerina brought another musician. In 1995 alfredo guerrero made a one year contract with Zacatecas Records and recorded two cds. The biggest hit that revived cadetes de linares was "UNA PAGINA MAS" sung by his son Alfredo Guerrero Jr. It sounded in every radio station from california to every other States. Lupe tijerina as well came in great success.

Both of them now have their own musical group. for all of you people do not get lied to. There are many other groups using the name Cadetes de Linares illegaly. it is done on documented paper the original two last cadetes are Alfredo Guerrero de la cerda and Lupe Tijerina. They are the only two people including Homero Guerrero jr. that can use legally the name "Los Cadetes de Linares". there are many other knock off cadetes for example: Chuy Vega y sus Cadetes, Rosendo cantu y sus cadetes, Los Cadetes desde linares, Los Cadetes de Felix Gallegos, Los Autenticos de Linares, Los Nuevos Cadetes, Los Cadetes de J. Jesus Bañales,Los Cadetes de Juan Guerrero, La Dinastia De Linares, Erneto Baez y sus cadetes, Los Cadetes de Los Primos Tijerina( primos tijerina used to be called Los Alegres del Valle) there also is Los Junior Cadetes, La Nueva Generacion de Cadetes, Pancho Mendoza y la sombra del Cadete, Fito Gamez y sus 100% Cadetes, Los Viejitos Cadetes de L de Francisco Guerrero, Los Cadetes de Israel Guerrero, Los Cadetes de los Hermanos Guerrero and many many more to name.
