This guide covers the monsters seen in Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, whether they were used by Scorpius's or Capt. Mutiny's minions. They were adapted from Seijuu Sentai Gingaman. The voice actors for the first bunch of monsters are uncredited, but starting with Fishface's episode ("Sunflower Search"), all voice actors for monsters from that point on are credited during the end credits.
With the exception of Scorpius, Trakeena, Furio, Kegler, and Captain Mutiny, most of the monsters in this series fall under the category of the other generals just like in Gingaman:
- If monsters are wearing black leather, resemble insects, and bearing Villamax's wing pin, they are in his category.
- If monsters are marine-type and wearing Treacheron's sunset emblem, they are in his category.
- If monsters resemble mythological figures and bear Hexuba's golden eye design, they are in her category.
- If monsters are robotic and bear the symbol of Barbarax, they are in his category.
As for the growing methods, the first batch of monsters (until Fishface) would drink a green potion that would make them grow. All other monsters who grew after that would just simply grow by themselves.
[edit] Monster List
Here are the monsters used by either of them:
[edit] Brunt
- First Appearance: "Race to the Rescue" (2/20/99)
A robotic warrior who captured the Galactabeasts as a task to become a general to Scorpius. He failed, and was killed by Scorpius.
NOTE: Brunt is a recolored hybrid of two Beetleborgs' monsters. It has the head of Mean Green Cannon Machine and the de-spiked body of Rocket Man.
[edit] Radster
- First Appearance: "Race to the Rescue" (2/20/99)
Radster is a scorpion-based monster who talked and acted like a 50's greaser (and even had a 50's hairdo-like horn). 3,000 years ago, he was with Scorpius in the invasion upon the Magna Defender's home planet. 3,000 years later, Radster reappeared to fight the Galaxy Rangers on a planet where the Galactabeasts were being held captive and after a brief fight, retreated. Furio later sent him to Terra Venture to get the Quasar Sabers. Radster began to blast all around and soon fought the Galaxy Rangers a second time. After being slashed by the Red Galaxy Ranger's powered-up Quasar Saber, Radster drank a green liquid and grew. Radster then fought the Lion Galactabeast and was destroyed by a stream of fire from the Lion's breath. Radster was one of the monsters in the tomb of the Shadow World. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters. His name is a pun of the slang term "rad" and the word lobster.
[edit] Horn
- First Appearance: "Rookie in Red" (2/27/99)
- Voice Actor: Blake Torney (2nd time)
Horn was a weevil monster and a renowned weapons collector. Among his collection were the Transdaggers. Horn was employed by Furio to gain the Quasar Sabers. He soon stole all of the Sabers except for the Red Galaxy Ranger's. When he presented the Sabers to Furio, he was shocked to find out Furio wanted to melt them down. When he tried to stop Furio, the Power Rangers used the opportunity to not only gain possession of the Sabers, but the Transdaggers as well. Furio ordered Horn to destroy the Galaxy Rangers and he started blasting at them. Leo slashed his hand off with the Magna Talon and was further blasted by the Transdaggers' star formation. Horn then drank the same green liquid as Radster and grew with his hand restored, wielding a sword. Also like Radster, Horn was destroyed by the Lion Galactabeast's fire breath. Horn was one of the monsters resurrected by Hexuba to wear out the Galaxy Rangers. This time he seemed to be a mindless monster and was once again blasted by the Transdaggers' star formation. Horn was later seen in the Shadow World's tomb. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters.
[edit] Gasser
- First Appearance: "Homesick" (3/6/99)
- Voice Actor: Blake Torney (2nd time)
Gasser was a stag beetle monster sent by Furio to put Terra Venture to sleep with his gas, so Furio could get the Quasar Sabers in peace. Gasser had the upper hand against the Galaxy Rangers until the Galactabeasts inhaled all of the gas. This act turned the Galactabeasts to stone and Gasser started to whack them with a hammer. When the Galaxy Rangers turned the Galactabeasts became the Galactazords for the first time, Gasser grew to attack them. Gasser could enlarge himself without the aid of a green potion. He was destroyed by the newly formed Galaxy Megazord's sword. Gasser was one of the monsters resurrected by Hexuba to wear out the Rangers and was destroyed by a blaze of fire from Leo. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters.
[edit] Mutantrum
- First Appearance: "The Lights of Orion" (3/13/99)
- Voice Actor: Neil Kaplan (2nd time)
Mutantrum is a shapeshifting sea urchin alien monster. He was used by Furio to trick Leo into opening the cavern to the Lights of Orion. Mutantrum was a white monster with gold and blue stripes; he had a sword in a sheath on his hip. He had a brown and blue apelike face, with hundreds of blue spikes on his head, making his head look like a sea urchin. He can take the form of anyone he chooses. Mutantrum can project energy bolts from his hands. When Furio was unable to break into the cavern, he figured that he had to find the one who could; and he knew just the person. Furio had Mutantrum to disguise himself as Mike Corbett, to lure Leo to help him. As Mutantrum acted like Mike, he managed to convince Leo to get to the Lights of Orion to stop Scorpius from getting his hands on them. Leo was able to break into the cavern and obtain the box that the Lights were in. Mike/Mutantrum had knocked Leo on the head and took the box. Mike/Mutantrum returned to Furio with the box and revealed his true form. Furio learned that the box was actually empty. Mutantrum grew to giant height from drinking the giant elixir. The Galaxy Megazord's Condor Missile Mode destroyed Mutantrum. He was another monster resurrected by Hexuba to wear out the Rangers. He was defeated by the rangers when they kicked him into a tree, yet was not seen to be destroyed. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monster. His name is a pun on the words mutant and tantrum.
[edit] Wisewizard
- First Appearance: "Double Duty" (3/20/99)
A squid monster who suggested himself to Scorpius in the ongoing search for the Lights of Orion. Wisewizard believed the light to be inside ordinary cameras. Using his special talismans, he could blow up cameras to reveal their contents, as well as make the talismans explode in battle as weapons. Killed by Galaxy Megazord. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters.
[edit] Quakemaker
- First Appearance: "The Blue Crush" (3/27/99)
- Voice Actor: Michael Sorich (2nd time)
A wasp monster capable of creating earthquakes by blasting stingers into the ground. He was used by Furio in his final plan/second chance to seek the Lights of Orion. He seemed to have the upper hand on the Rangers until Kai showed up and gave him a real pounding. Quakemaker then drank the green liquid and grew, but in the end he was easily destroyed by the Galaxy Megazord's Galacta-Condor Missile Mode. He was the last of the monsters to be resurrected by Hexuba in her attempt to wear the Rangers out, and met his final demise when Kai showed up and destroyed him with his Quasar Saber. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters.
[edit] Starcog
- First Appearance: "The Magna Defender" (4/3/99)
An unseen starfish and cog-themed monster, presumably used by Treacheron, but suggested by Scorpius (this was voiced-over only in an unaired scene from the trailer) to seek the Lights of Orion. All that was seen of Starcog was its shadow. Once Leo chased it outside, Starcog wasn't seen. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters.
[edit] Ruptor
- First Appearance: "The Magna Defender" (4/3/99)
Ruptor is a pillbug monster sent to find the Lights of Orion. Ruptor was a blue and red monster in black leather. His tongue perpetually hangs out. He wields a spear and a giant butter knife. He could project streams of flaming energy from his mouth. Ruptor started digging at the site where Furio had assumed that the Lights were located. He was startled by Leo, and left behind an egg-like stone shell that was presumed to hold the Lights. Ruptor managed to take the stone and teleported away, escaping both the Galaxy Rangers and the Magna Defender. Ruptor grew to giant form (via consumption of the green elixir) to battle the Rangers in their Galaxy Megazord. The Galaxy Megazord's Saber and Condor Missile Mode destroyed Ruptor. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters. Ruptor was later seen in archived footage in "The Chameliac Warrior". In the footage, Ruptor wielded a large fork and knife and used his shell to deflect the Rangers attack. His name is a pun on the word eruption.
[edit] Samuron
- First Appearance: "The Magna Defender" (4/3/99)
Samuron is a coral monster. He was used by Treacheron to seek the Lights of Orion. Samuron was a strong red and white monster with coral-like growths all over his body. He wields a large red sledgehammer. He claims that for thousands of years, nothing could withstand the crash of the hammer. When Ruptor had stolen a stone supposedly containing the Lights, Samuron prepared to smash the stone open with his sledgehammer. His third strike broke the hammer's handle apart. When the Galaxy Rangers fired their Quasar Launchers at Samuron, he held the stone in front of him to take the blast. The stone was undamaged. Magna Defender had destroyed Samuron, as well as slicing the stone in half. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters. His name is a pun on the word samurai.
[edit] Sledger
- First Appearance: "Sunflower Search" (4/10/99)
A blue and brown rhinoceros beetle monster seen in Scorpius' invasion upon the Magna Defender's home planet 3,000 years ago. He appeared in Trakeena's archive videos reviewed by Chameliac where Sledger fought the Red Ranger. When it attacked Terra Venture is unknown. Sledger was also seen on Onyx as a bidder for the Pink Quasar Saber. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters.
NOTE : Sledger's name comes from a the script for "Homesick" where he suddenly appears with Gasser, and later quietly disappears, with no explanation. In Gingaman, these two were brothers and were sent down together, ala "Homesick", but for some reason Sledger wasn't used in the same capacity as Gasser in that episode in the US version.
[edit] Fishface
- First Appearance: "Sunflower Search" (4/10/99)
- Voice Actor: Richard Epcar (1st Time), Derek Stephen Prince (2nd Time)
A scorpionfish monster used by Treacheron to seek the Lights of Orion. He tried many times to find the Lights, thinking he had found them each time, but met with no success. He was also one of the monsters present alongside Scorpius, who caused the death of Zika, the son of the Magna Defender. Consequently enough, Magna Defender recognized him from that past and was determined to destroy him as well. Fishface was also the last of the monsters to grow via drinking the green potion (all others afterwards grew by themselves). During that battle, he proved to be too much for the Rangers and the Galaxy Megazord, easily taking down the Megazord. Then Magna Defender grew and took on Fishface himself. When it looked like Fishface would win, Magna Defender called for his Torozord. The Torozord was too much for Fishface to handle, and it even used its horns to ram Fishface and send him flying. Magna Defender used this opportunity to merge with Torozord to become the Defender Torozord. As Defender Torozord, he used his signature spinning attack with his blade to finally destroy Fishface. Fishface, too, was a monster who was resurrected by Hexuba to wear down the Rangers, and was once again destroyed by Magna Defender (who at that time was Mike Corbett). Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters.
[edit] Chillyfish
- First Appearance: "Silent Sleep" (4/17/99)
- Voice Actor: Tony Robinson
This blue jellyfish monster was sent to Terra Venture to seek out the Lights of Orion, and his method of attack was using his jellyfish quills to put everyone into a shivering sleep that would put them into a deep freeze, thus enabling him to seek out the Lights with no interference. One way he did this was by launching floating jellyfish-like projectiles, which then made the quills rain down onto every area of Terra Venture, and surely enough, all of its inhabitants were affected, and Terra Venture itself was shut down. Even Alpha 6 was completely frozen, as would be found out later. The Lost Galaxy Rangers investigated this attack and were then confronted by Chillyfish. He overpowered them, and soon spewed out some quills from his mouth that put four of the Rangers into the same deep freeze. Leo, the Red Ranger, was the only one not affected by the attack, due to the dog tags that he had worn around his neck. Later, Leo discovered that Chillyfish's attack only affected human beings, and not one animal was affected by the attack. Leo's only hope now was to board the white stallion that he unsuccessfully tried to ride earlier on in the episode. Once he got the hang of it, he morphed again and confronted Chillyfish, who was seen riding on top of his own stallion. Chillyfish thought he had the Lights of Orion (after they were shot out of a box that the Magna Defender used to entrap them), but then soon discovered that they were fake, and went to the attack on Leo. Eventually they battled it out on the ground, and he landed a powerful strike on Leo with his blade. However, Leo was able to sneak in a strike of his own at the same time that he himself was struck by Chillyfish. Chillyfish was stunned, cold in his tracks, and then he went down. Magna Defender arrived and chewed out Leo for the fact that the Lights he captured were just decoys, but the argument was cut short when Chillyfish got up again and became a giant. Magna Defender then called on his Torozord and grew to giant size as well. He then asked Chillyfish to tell him where the Lights were, but Chillyfish refused to tell him. Magna Defender responded by landing several ruthless strikes on Chillyfish, and then he merged with the Torozord to become the Defender Torozord. He utilized his Lightning Spin attack to put Chillyfish away for good, and upon the fish's destruction, the freeze spell went away and everyone awoke again. Chillyfish fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters. His name is a mix of the words chilly and jellyfish.
[edit] Destruxo
- First Appearance: "Orion Rising" (5/1/99)
- Voice Actor: Neil Kaplan
Destruxo(as in "destruction") is a powerful lobster/samurai monster in Scorpius and Treacheron's army. In his final attempt to draw the Lights of Orion from the soil of Terra Venture, Treacheron sent down Destruxo. While he was a fierce warrior, his voice was puny and whiney. Destruxo created a force field to prevent interference from the Galaxy Rangers and used his staff to draw out the Lights. Although Kendrix and Maya destroyed the force field, they were unable to prevent the Lights' release. In a desperate chase, Destruxo captured the Lights in a magic urn. He was then tricked into using the Lights for himself, thus marking Treacheron as a traitor. But in an attack by the Magna Defender, Destruxo lost the Lights to the Galaxy Rangers, who used their newfound powers to destroy him (specifically speaking, the Lights of Orion fireball attack). He was another monster who was resurrected by Hexuba to wear down the Rangers, and he met his final demise there when he was struck by Leo's Quasar Saber. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters.
[edit] Impostra
- First Appearance: "Orion Returns" (5/8/99)
- Voice Actor: Nancy Van Iderstine
Impostra(as in "imposter") is a shapeshifting Medusa-like monster in Scorpius's army. Impostra has a human female face, but with a jeweled gold mask over her eyes and her hair is blue snakes covering her entire head. Impostra was known to be Trakeena's spy and friend. When Trakeena became angry at Treacheron's excluding her from battles with the Galaxy Rangers, the insect princess exacted her revenge by sending Impostra. By disguising herself as Treacheron, Impostra tricked Destruxo into using the Lights of Orion on himself. She also gave him a beaded snake bracelet as a personal "reward". When Scorpius saw Treacheron's monster using the Lights instead of bringing them back to him, he accused him of treason and had him locked up. With her task complete, Impostra tried to use the snake bracelet to siphon the Lights back from Destruxo, but was wounded by Magna Defender and fled the battle. She claimed that she would be back, but was never seen again. Impostra was first seen as one of the monsters on Magna Defender's home planet when Zika was killed by Scorpius. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters.
NOTE #1: In Gingaman, Impostra and Maronda are sisters.
NOTE #2: In Gingaman, Impostra was seen again, and battled against Treacheron after they released him from incarceration. He destroyed her for framing him. This was replaced in the US version with a scene of Trakeena digging up the Silver Goblit and being confronted by Treacheron.
[edit] Shark Brothers
- First Appearance: "Shark Attack" (5/15/99)
- Voice Actors: Tom Fahn (Green Shark), Patrick Thomas (Red Shark)
Twin shark monster brothers (a green shark who speaks in the style of Jabberjaw and a red hammerhead shark who speaks with a stereotypical Southern dialect) who freed and later aided Treacheron into proving his innocence and attacking Trakeena. Killed by the Orion Galaxy Megazord. They were later seen again on Onyx trying to bid on the Pink Quasar Saber. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters.
[edit] Freaky Tiki
- First Appearance: "Redemption Day" (5/22/99)
- Voice Actor: Blake Torney
A tribal tiki monster used by Scorpius and Trakeena to attack Terra Venture. He wielded a spear that could project energy blasts in battle. Killed by Orion Galaxy Megazord. He was the first of the monsters to be resurrected by Hexuba to wear the Rangers down. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters.
[edit] Skelekron
- First Appearance: "Destined for Greatness" (9/25/99)
- Voice Actor: Doug Stone
Skelekron is a skeleton/gashadokuro monster. Hoping to destroy the Galaxy Rangers once and for all, Scorpius sent this alien monster down to Terra Venture. Skelekron's mirror shield trapped four of the Rangers in shards of glass, but Mike and Leo escaped. He used the energy of the captured Rangers to create his Skelekron Warriors. This plot failed when Leo and Mike found his location, defeated his warriors, and shattered the mirrors. Skelekron was destroyed by Mike, as the new Magna Defender, and the Torozord. The Skelekron Warriors were originally carried by Skelekron in the forms of dolls. They were brought to life by the energy he drained from the Pink, Yellow, Green, and Blue Rangers. The four Skelekron Warriors were destroyed by Mike and Leo, which restored the other Galaxy Rangers' powers. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters.
[edit] Crumummy
- First Appearance: "Stolen Beauty" (10/2/99)
- Voice Actor: William Butler
A mummy monster used by Trakeena to steal all the beauty from Terra Venture. Crumummy could steal/drain beauty through his arm bandages, which also seemed to weaken the women severely afterwards. Crumummy could also blast lasers from his eyes in battle. Killed by Defender Torozord and the Orion Galaxy Megazord. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters. His name is a mix of the words crummy and mummy.
[edit] Alien
- First Appearance: "The Rescue Mission" (10/9/99)
- Voice Actor: Kirk Thornton
An unnamed alien creature who was found on a ship that Mike, Leo, and a rescue team explored during a mission to answer a distress call coming from the ship. This alien was a humanoid type that looked like a slimy and slavering monster with sharp claws, and it demonstrated no language abilities whatsoever. It was first seen crawling on ceilings and walls, spying on the team. This creature captured most of the rescue team (who all mysteriously disappeared and later were found imprisoned in cobwebs), leaving only Mike and Leo. It was also the original protector of the Galaxy Book (which made its debut in this episode). This creature proved to be vicious and powerful whenever it was fired at, and it looked like it was about to finish the two brothers until the other Rangers arrived to rescue everyone, as well as the Galaxy Book. Suddenly, from continuous blasts to its interior, the ship was about to self-destruct. Leo and Mike were able to board the rescue heliship in time, despite the alien trying to keep Mike from going along. Kai blasted at the alien to free Mike, knocking the alien back into the ship, and as the heliship flew away, the alien ship exploded in a massive fireball. This alien creature was presumably destroyed in said explosion.
NOTE: This monster is a US-exclusive. It never appeared in Gingaman.
[edit] Hardtochoke
- First Appearance: "The Lost Galactabeasts, Part 2" (10/22/99)
- Voice Actor: Ken Merckx (1st time), Michael Sorich (2nd time)
A bulky-scaled sasquatch-like monster used by Deviot to control the Centaurus Megazord and the Stratoforce Megazord. In battle, Hardtochoke could blast a green laser from his clawed hand. Killed by Stratoforce, Centaurus, Zenith Carrierzord and Orion Galaxy Megazord. However, he was later resurrected by Hexuba to wear down the Rangers. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters. His name is a pun on the word artichoke, which he sort of resembles.
[edit] Kubak
- First Appearance: "An Evil Game" (10/25/99)
- Voice Actor: Stephen Apostolina
Kubak is a plump crab-like monster who is an assassin, as is Teksa, both of whom are known by Deviot. Deviot had called for Teksa and Kubak to assassinate Trakeena so he can enter the cocoon. As Trakeena fought Leo Corbett in a force field, Deviot ordered Kubak and Teksa to destroy her and make it look like the Red Galaxy Ranger/Leo did it, presumably for her surviving allies. Deviot managed to disable the force field and allowed Teksa and Kubak to enter, allowing Red Galaxy Ranger to escape. After Teksa was destroyed by her, Trakeena had interrogated Kubak to tell her who sent him to destroy her. But before he could tell her, Deviot blasted him, which destroyed him. Deviot claimed he did it to protect her and thought she was in danger. Kubak had grown to giant size and tried to destroy both Trakeena and the Galaxy Rangers. Kubak was destroyed by the Galaxy Megazord's Condor Missile. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters. His name is a pun on the word "bucket".
[edit] Teksa
- First Appearance: "An Evil Game" (10/25/99)
- Voice Actor: Kim Strauss (1st time), Michael Sorich (2nd time)
An octopus-in-a-basket monster used by Deviot to assist Kubak in assassinating Trakeena. They fought together sword-to-sword but she managed to destroy him before she set her sights on Kubak. He was also the second monster resurrected by Hexuba to wear out the Rangers, yet oddly enough was recognized by Damon (Green Ranger) who called him out by name, even though Teksa only previously fought against Trakeena. He was taken down for good this time by Leo's Quasar Launcher. Fits the profile of Treacheron's monsters. His name is a pun on the word "basket".
[edit] Rykon
- First Appearance: "Memories of Mirinoi" (10/26/99)
- Voice Actor: Carol Hoyt
A shape-shifting pharaoh monster used by Trakeena in an attempt to steal the Galaxy Book. She disguised herself as Maya's childhood friend, Shondra. Killed by Stratoforce and Orion Galaxy Megazord. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters.
NOTE: In Gingaman, Rykon is Hexuba's younger brother, and therefore not female.
[edit] Cannonbrawl
- First Appearance: "Green Courage" (10/27/99)
- Voice Actor: Tom Wyner
A robotic cannon monster used by Villamax (under Trakeena's orders) to kidnap High Councilor Reiner. Often said his own name. Killed by Stratoforce and Orion Galaxy Megazord. He was later seen on Onyx trying to bid on the Pink Quasar Saber. Fits the profile of Barbarax's monsters.
[edit] Icy Angel
- First Appearance: "Blue to the Test" (10/28/99)
- Voice Actor: Barbara Goodson
A fallen angel monster used by Trakeena to take control of Commander Stanton by injecting him with a special arrow of ice. In battle, she could blast icy breath from her mouth as well as use/fire her arrows as projectile weapons from her bow. Killed by Defender Torozord and Orion Galaxy Megazord. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters.
[edit] Motor Mantis
- First Appearance: "Mean Wheels Mantis" (10/28/99)
- Voice Actor: Michael McConnohie
Motor Mantis is a bike-riding praying mantis alien. He's a dark green mantis-like being who wears a black leather jacket. He's known to be sneaky, underhanded, and devious; like Deviot (according to Kegler). He uses his motorbike to travel and attack his opponents. Motor Mantis was first seen, without his motorcycle, on Magna Defender's home planet when Scorpius killed Zika. Deviot summoned Motor Mantis and Trakeena approved of him before he was sent to destroy the Galaxy Rangers. He captured the Pink and Yellow Galaxy Rangers and turned them into trophies. When Leo Corbett, the Red Galaxy Ranger, demanded that Motor Mantis return them to their rightful forms, Motor Mantis said that he would only change them back if Leo could best him in a race. Motor Mantis won and left with the trophies. Leo returned to race again, offering his Quasar Saber as a prize if he lost. He used his newly-acquired Red Capsular Cycle to win, but Motor Mantis refused to give the trophies back. Leo then used the Capular Cycle's Fireball Mode to blast Motor Mantis to kingdom come. By defeating Motor Mantis, Maya and Kendrix were returned to human form. However, Motor Mantis came back as a giant, but only to be destroyed by the Galaxy Megazord's Condor Missile. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters.
[edit] Loyax
- First Appearance: "Loyax' Last Battle" (11/1/99)
- Voice Actor: Simon Prescott
Loyax(from the word "loyal") was once a hero in the ancient times, fighting on the side of good, until one day, the power of evil consumed him. He found it too great to fight against as he fell to the dark side. His arsenal of weapons included a sword and a mace ball on a chain. He was an aging warrior who desired one last battle with a worthy opponent before his time would be up. That opponent would end up being Maya. Maya tried really hard to convince Loyax to fight his heart and be good again but Loyax knew he couldn't fight being evil. He and Maya did battle against one another, and eventually Maya defeated him with a mighty blow from her Thunder Saber. Loyax did not want to lose his last battle, and Maya did not want to destroy him, but then Deviot appeared and hit Loyax with a mind-controlling device. Loyax then grew into a giant and was ready to go on another rampage. The Rangers piloted their Galaxy Megazord and tried to keep Loyax from doing any damage, all the while Maya was trying to get Loyax to take control of himself once again. When Loyax proved to be too tough for the Rangers, Maya called for the Centaurus Megazord to back them up. The mind-controlled Loyax ended up overpowering both the Galaxy Megazord and Centaurus. Then Loyax, who had regained a bit of control, told the Rangers to destroy the device that was on his wrists (which was linked to the remote control Deviot was using), which they did, finally freeing Loyax from the clutches of evil. Loyax then declared that no one could make him evil again and angrily tried to crush Deviot with his mace ball. Deviot had had about enough and resorted to Plan B - he pushed a detonation button on the remote which in turn set Loyax to self-destruction. Loyax bid his farewell to Maya, calling her a true warrior, then his life finally ended as he fell to the ground and exploded, very much to Maya's sadness. Back at the beach where she and Loyax had done battle, a tearful Maya swore that Loyax would not be forgotten, saying that he did win his last battle, as she set his sword into the ground as a memorial for him, and she and the others finally walked away from the site. Fits the profile of Barbarax's monsters.
[edit] Maronda
- First Appearance: "A Red Romance" (11/2/99)
- Voice Actor: Brianne Siddall
Maronda was a purple humanoid serpentine monster that was summoned by Deviot, yet approved and used by Trakeena, to attack Terra Venture. She had a magical amulet which she used to trap people inside it. One of her victims was Ginger, the girl that Leo tried to get to know during the episode. Ginger's overprotective brother, Colby, tried to attack Maronda on his own, but his attempts proved futile as Maronda gave him quite a beating. Colby couldn't handle the monster without Leo's help, but yet, Colby did not want Leo's help. The monster escaped and Leo ran after her, leaving Colby behind, at which point he morphed. Maronda ambushed Leo but he was saved by the other Rangers. Maronda then summoned the Stingwingers to attack the other Rangers while she focused on Leo. Leo was eventually able to snatch the amulet from Maronda, who stalked him on her motorcycle. The other Rangers tried to take down the monster with the Lights of Orion but their Orion Blast was unable to destroy her. She was about ready to destroy the Rangers, but Colby raced in on his motorcycle and tried to help the Rangers. Leo, in Ranger mode (to conceal his identity from Colby), called for his Capsular Cycle to try to finish the job. In the end he succeeded, taking down Maronda with the Capsular Cycle in fireball mode, which freed all her victims (including Colby's sister) from the amulet. Unfortunately, the happy reunion between brother and sister was short-lived, because Maronda grew into a giant, so then the Rangers directed everyone to safety and called for the Galaxy Megazord. In the giant battle, Maronda was able to transport the Megazord and Rangers into another dimension. The Orion Galaxy Megazord tried to strike down Maronda, but found that it was only swinging at illusions. A ghastly image of the monster appeared, blowing a breath that knocked the Megazord back into the real world. Leo called for the Centaurus Megazord, and Centaurus turned the tide of the battle by striking Maronda with its signature ram. The Rangers took the opportunity they had and finished off Maronda with the Galaxy Megazord's Orion Slash. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters. It is interesting to note that Maronda along with Psycho Pink was one of the few monsters to survive a direct attack by the Lights of Orion.
NOTE: In Seijuu Sentai Gingaman, Maronda and Impostra are sisters.
[edit] Chameliac
- First Appearance: "The Chameliac Warrior" (11/3/99)
- Voice Actor: Tom Fahn
A black-and-white-checkered power-duplicating robot warrior used to guard the construction of a laser dish (which would be intended to destroy the Galactabeasts). He had the ability to analyze and copy the powers of everything and everyone that he battled. He started his assault on Mike, the Magna Defender, using Mike's own powers on him. After the battle he returned to the Scorpion Stinger where, upon viewing and studying video archives of the Galaxy Rangers, he proceeded to analyze and copy the Galaxy Ranger powers. He then battled the Galaxy Rangers, and unfortunately for them, he also knew all their moves and attack styles, using them on the Rangers. He even powered himself up with his own version of the Lights of Orion and blasted the Rangers with its power. The Rangers retreated and strategized by attacking Chameliac using each others' moves. This in turn confused Chameliac (who was expecting to use the original moves) and he took a brutal beating. Leo topped it off by knocking out Chameliac with the Capsular Cycle's fireball mode. Villamax told Chameliac to grow, which he did, and the Rangers called for the Galaxy Megazord, but just as the Galactabeasts arose, Villamax ordered for the laser to fire at them. Mike thwarted his plan and destroyed the laser dish just in time to prevent the destruction of the Galactabeasts. Chameliac could not believe that the Galactabeasts were still standing, and the Galactabeasts were able to become the Galaxy Megazord. As for the Rangers, however, Chameliac had the Megazord moves memorized as well. He landed a few blows on the Megazord using an exact replica of the Galaxy Megazord saber, at which point the Rangers called for the Stratoforce Megazord. As expected, Chameliac knew and anticipated Stratoforce's attacks, arming himself with the Stratoforce boomerang, but the tide was turned once more when Stratoforce, instead of using its boomerang, used the laser blaster of Centaurus Megazord on Chameliac. Chameliac was now extremely confused and his computer system went haywire. The Rangers seized this opportunity to power up Galaxy Megazord with the Lights of Orion and take Chameliac completely out of the picture with the Galaxy Megazord's Orion Slash. Fits the profile of Barbarax's monsters. His name is a pun on the word chameleon.
[edit] "Trencher"
- First Appearance: "The Chameliac Warrior" (11/3/99)
A red and yellow striped centipede monster, in a black trenchcoat, seen when Chameliac reviewed the archived videos on the Scorpion Stinger. In the footage, it was knocked off a building into some woods during it's fight with the Red Ranger. When he attacked Terra Venture is unknown. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters.
NOTE: He is never named on-screen. Trencher is a fan name. In Gingaman, this monster was used to awaken Titanisaur's counterpart using electrical shocks.
[edit] Spikaka
- First Appearance: "Protect the Quasar Saber" (11/8/99)
- Voice Actor: Brett Walkow
A red/orange cockroach monster used by Deviot to ambush the Galaxy Rangers. He was destroyed by the Rangers' powered-up Lights of Orion fireball. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters. His name is a pun on the words spike and cockroach.
[edit] Ironite
- First Appearance: "Protect the Quasar Saber" (11/8/99)
- Voice Actor: Eddie Frierson
Ironite was a robotic, grey, tank-like monster who wielded a long cone shaped sword. He was ultimately used alongside Villamax and Trakeena, as well as his partner Spikaka, to seize the Quasar Saber. He first assisted Deviot in attempting to capture the Galaxy Power Rangers. He was destroyed by the Orion Galaxy Megazord. Fits the profile of Barbarax's monsters. His name is a pun on the words iron and knight.
[edit] Magnetox
- First Appearance: "Facing the Past" (11/9/99)
- Voice Actor: Dave Mallow
A power-draining blue robotic magnet monster who wielded a staff with a large magnet on its end. Villamax suggested to Trakeena that they use him to attack Terra Venture, and thus, Trakeena had the monster try to prove himself on the battlefield by taking on a whole army of Stingwingers. Magnetox promptly used his giant magnetic staff to drain every bit of power from the Stingwingers, reducing them to mere beetles. From this, Trakeena gladly approved of using Magnetox to destroy Terra Venture, so she sent him there. His first attack was against the Red and Pink Galaxy Rangers, Leo and Karone, respectively. He gave them a beating, and then used his staff to drain Leo of his powers completely. After demorphing, Leo tried to remorph, only to find that his morpher was fried and he could not remorph, the result of Magnetox's power-draining move. The rest of the team arrived to save Leo and bring him back to the Astro Megaship. It was there that Alpha 6 discovered that Leo lost every single bit of his powers, but soon Karone revealed that the Armor Keys of a powerful warrior that she once fought against and turned to stone (when she was Astronema) could be the one thing that would give Leo his powers back. It was a risk worth taking, and she and Leo set off to find them. Meanwhile, Kai, Damon, Maya and Mike all went back to Terra Venture to confront Magnetox again, but unfortunately for them, Magnetox would soon be able to drain all of their powers as well and briefly knock Damon unconscious after striking him in the back with his staff. Eventually though, once the warrior was returned to normal, he gave Leo the Armor Keys (which gave Leo back all his powers and then some), and soon Leo and Karone returned to Terra Venture to save everyone and to finish off the monster. Karone blasts and rams Magnatox with her jet jammer as Magnatox was about to drain Damon, Maya, Mike, and Kai of their life energy and then Leo comes out from behind to reveal that his powers have been restored. As Magnetox was getting ready to drain Leo of his powers again, Leo used the Armor Keys to transform himself into the Red Armored Power Ranger. He used a long claw on his armor to send Magnetox reeling, and then proceeded to fire the Red Armored Lasers to finally destroy Magnetox. His destruction returned the stolen powers to Mike and the other Rangers. Fits the profile of Barbarax's monsters. His name is a pun on the words magnet and toxin.
[edit] Decibat
- First Appearance: "Turn Up the Volume" (11/10/99)
- Voice Actor: Kim Strauss
A sonic bat/cicada monster used by Deviot to attack Terra Venture. Prior to being hired by Deviot, Decibat was seen on Onyx as one of the monsters seeking to bid on the Pink Quasar Saber, as well as just wandering around outside aimlessly. He had speakers on both shoulders which he used to emit his highly destructive (and very loud) soundwaves from. After the first attack, Baxter, another mechanic who was a rival to Damon, tried to build the machine that would silence the monster, with plans that he had stolen from Damon while Damon was sleeping. However, those plans were not finished, and when Decibat returned to Terra Venture for more high-frequency attacks, the machine silenced Decibat for a moment when suddenly it started to overload, nearing certain destruction. Baxter was ready to explain to Commander Stanton that the plans weren't finished and that he stole them from Damon, but Damon covered him by telling Stanton that Baxter just needed more time, and Damon helped Baxter finish the machine. Meanwhile, Decibat was busy attacking the other Rangers with his deadly soundwaves, and the Rangers couldn't call for the Lights of Orion since Damon was not with them. When the machine was finally finished, it was able to repel the soundwaves without overloading. When it knocked down Decibat, his speakers were shattered, rendering him unable to emit any more soundwaves. Damon then joined the other Rangers, and they were able to summon the Lights of Orion. They then used the Lights of Orion fireball attack to silence Decibat for good. Fits the profile of Villamax's monsters. His name is a pun on the words decible and bat.
[edit] Titanisaur
- First Appearance: "Beware the Mutiny" (11/12/99)
A giant dragon monster used by Capt. Mutiny. It was initially stone, but broke free at Mutiny's command. It was the home of Captain Mutiny's castle, which was connected to it via a gigantic bolt that several Swabbies must remove manually. The Titanisaur is able to operate in space, in atmosphere, on land, and underwater, and is immensely powerful but prone to overheating. In many ways he resembles a much darker version of Godzilla, at least in terms of attitude. However, the most distintintive resemblance is in Titanisaurs dorsal spikes. Like Godzilla, he needs to charge up his mouth weapon before firing and charging and firing are the exact same process. It was eventually killed by Defender Torozord (which cut off its tail then hit it with the Defender Axe), Stratoforce and Centaurus (who attacked it together weakening it further), and Orion Galaxy Megazord (which finished it off with its Saber Strike). His name is a pun on the words titanic and dinosaur.
[edit] Rocketron
- First Appearance: "Beware the Mutiny" (11/12/99)
- Voice Actor: Glen McDougal
Rocketron is a green robotic rocket monster used by Captain Mutiny's henchman Barbarax to attack the Galaxy Rangers. He was first seen with Mutiny and the crew when they landed in the Lost Galaxy to greet Commander Stanton and the rest of Terra Venture, who had just been sucked into the Lost Galaxy. Rocketron was armed with a powerful rocket on his back which he used on the Rangers. After a battle against Swabbies, Leo took down Rocketron with the Capsular Cycle, but unfortunately Rocketron got right back up and grew. The Rangers called for the Galaxy Megazord. During battle, Rocketron grappled onto the Galaxy Megazord and activated his self-destruct mode, with the intent of destroying the Rangers along with himself. The Galaxy Megazord broke free and Leo called on Stratoforce Megazord to aid him and the other Rangers. Stratoforce then grabbed Rocketron, creating an opening for the Galaxy Megazord to strike Rocketron with its Saber, defeating him. But Rocketron merely shrunk back to human size again, though very weak. Just then, Deviot, who was still in his advanced Keonta-spell mode and was recently defeated by the Rangers, found Rocketron and drained him of every last bit of his power, restoring Deviot's original look once again. He then walked away just as Rocketron's self-destruct mode went off, resulting in a huge explosion that destroyed him. Fits the profile of Barbarax's monsters.
[edit] Grunchor
- First Appearance: "Beware the Mutiny" (11/12/99)
A hideous monster used by Capt. Mutiny to attack Terra Venture. He came inside of a box that Mutiny offered to Commander Stanton and the rest of Terra Venture as a gift of peace (obviously without telling him what was inside). Only the Rangers knew what was going on, but the unknowing Commander released the monster which then started the attack on Terra Venture. Killed by the Orion Galaxy Megazord with Leo's fire power.
[edit] Rojomon
- First Appearance: "Until Sunset" (11/16/99)
- Voice Actor: Randy Swerdlick
A one-eyed swordfish monster who accompanied Capt. Mutiny for planned execution of Leo and Damon. When sunset came, Mutiny, who was accompanied by Rojomon (as well as Deviot, Barbarax, and an army of Swabbies) was just about to execute them both when the other three Rangers came and freed the two prisoners. Leo and Damon then morphed to put the fight in their favor. Rojomon volunteered to take the Rangers on himself, and Mutiny agreed, prompting him and the rest of his army to leave. In battle, Rojomon breathed a long-range stream of fire from his mouth. The battle was short-lived, though, as Leo, who immediately called for his Red Armored Ranger mode, was able to easily destroy Rojomon with the Red Armored Lasers.
[edit] Nightmare Monster
- First Appearance: "Dream Battle" (11/17/99)
- Voice Actor: Walter Emanuel Jones
A robotic monster used by Hexuba in the Nightmare World while the five main Galaxy Rangers had fallen under a dream spell (which occurred when they smelled a mysterious bouquet of flowers). After the Rangers battled their way past large waves of Swabbies, Hexuba sent Nightmare in to finish the Rangers off. Nightmare was a very powerful warrior. He wielded a sword and he had gun turrets built in underneath his front panel. He gave the Rangers a heck of a beating but when Mike (who was barely awake enough to stay away from the spell) destroyed Hexuba's crystal ball, the spell was broken, distracting Nightmare (who realized that something went wrong in the real world), and giving the Rangers (who had to defeat the monster in order to finally wake up) an opening to attack him. They then powered up with the Lights of Orion, but their attack had no effect on Nightmare. Damon, however, was able to weaken the monster by disabling the turrets on the monster's chest, and the monster went down. Unfortunately for the Rangers, Nightmare got right back up and turned into a giant. The Rangers called for the Galaxy Megazord and after its assembly, immediately powered it up with the Lights of Orion. Nightmare was too powerful for the Orion Galaxy Megazord, though, easily knocking it down in battle. The Rangers enlisted the aid of the Centaurus Megazord who weakened Nightmare. This gave the Rangers time to get the Galaxy Megazord back up, and they powered up the Galaxy Megazord Saber and put a stop to this Nightmare once and for all with the Orion Slash. Finally, the Rangers woke up in the real world again after their victory. Fits the profile of Barbarax's monsters.
NOTE: The Centaurus Megazord arrived to help the Rangers, even though Damon called for the Stratoforce Megazord.
[edit] "Asura-Skin"
- First Appearance: "Hexuba's Graveyard" (11/18/99)
A blue-skinned asura monster whose face appeared on Hexuba when she absorbed several monsters the Rangers had previously defeated. Fits the profile of Hexuba's monsters. This monster's name was not said on-screen. When this monster attacked Terra Venture was never explained either.
NOTE: In Gingaman, this was one of the monsters used by Hexuba's counterpart. This monster was used to collect hands/palms and somehow use them to revive Titanisaur's counterpart.
