[edit] Notability of Alexander Oliver
A tag has been placed on Alexander Oliver requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 01:50, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

With regard to the children of the above. The way to name them is within a sentence not as a list. Also the source you gave at familysearch only led to a search page and not to any information about him. The article needs sources to assert his notability first and foremost, otherwise a "Prod" tag will probably end up being added.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 02:14, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
The familysearch link you have now added again only leads to a blank search page and nothing else. Sources should also be added "inline" within the article and not added in the references section. Please have a look at these articles, WP:HOW, WP:CITE, WP:VER and WP:RS. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 02:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry but I have again reverted another of your edits. The tags on the article are still valid and should only be removed once the issues are dealt with, no matter whether there is also the underconstruction tag also on the article.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:02, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Adding signatures to articles
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you've been adding your signature to some of your article contributions. This is a simple mistake to make and is easy to correct. For future reference, the need to associate edits with users is taken care of by an article's edit history. Therefore, you should use your signature only when contributing to talk pages, the Village Pump, or other such discussion pages. For a better understanding of what distinguishes articles from these type of pages, please see What is an article?. Again, thanks for contributing, and enjoy your Wikipedia experience! Thank you. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:09, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I have already explained above that familysearch does not work as a source, which in addition even if it did work is not a valid source. I have also explained that you should not keep removing the tags. I will though ask you once again to stop removing the tags. You are clearly editing out of good faith but wikipedia has very specific guidelines about editing and creating articles. I really would urge you to read up about how to edit articles.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:13, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Thomas Oliver (1582 - 1658) do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.
- Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
- The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: 'members\.aol\.com' (link(s): http://members.aol.com/tlnnash/thomasoliver.html) .
- Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! XLinkBot (talk) 03:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

- Further to the above message, an aol members page is also not a valid third party reliable source. WP:CITE, WP:RS and WP:VER. In addition you keep removing "reflist" from the references section. It is there for good reason and should not be removed. The sources go inline within the article and then appear in the references section automatically. There is no huge rush to sort out these articles, I can't see any of them being deleted so as I have already suggested perhaps you would be best reading how to edit articles firstly and then edit them further. Wikipedia can be a strange old place, but once you get used to it it is easy to edit.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:24, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Thomas Oliver (1582 - 1658)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Thomas Oliver (1582 - 1658), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Thomas Oliver (1582 - 1658). Hut 8.5 20:25, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
