[edit] Anthrophage?
"Buckley was an anthrophage&hellip:"? That would mean a cannibal, no? Seems unlikely. Is there a citation for this? - Jmabel | Talk 18:58, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Since I have allowed almost 48 hours, including leaving a note on the user talk page of the person who wrote this, and no one is answering, I am cutting the word. If someone can justify it, please explain and restore. -- Jmabel | Talk 18:53, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
yep, it literally means cannibal, but specifically a cultural cannibalism. this word is sometimes used to refer to tropicalism. looks like it should properly be "anthropophage" actually. i agree that it is unclear with no context. i will provide another edit to reflect his aggressive cultural assimilation. thanks jmabel. [edit] Buckley and Beatles
I really think attributing Paul McCartney's improvisation to LB's influence is quite a stretch. The song after all was about Julian Lennon's travails through life, so the phrase "make it, Jude" works on its own. Without some documentation this is speculation, and severely shaky speculation at that. Shall we presume McCartney named the whole song just to set up an obscure Lord Buckley reference at the end?
Meanwhile, solid references from Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and others go unmentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.236.48.240 (talk) 04:03, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Also, David Bowie mentions "... the Nazz with God given ass" in the song "Ziggy Stardust" from his album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.231.33.14 (talk) 20:35, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
