Lorraine Chase (born July 16, 1951) is an English actress and model. She started her career as a model in the 1970s. Lorraine is well known for her strong cockney accent and frequent use of cockney slang. She found fame through an advertisement for Campari (1977) which spawned her catchphrase "Nah, Luton Airport!" as a reply to a question "Were you truly wafted here from paradise?". This inspired the 1979 hit "Luton Airport" by Cats U.K..

[edit] Television

Lorraine Chase appeared in the 1984 TV series Lame Ducks.

She bears a striking resemblance to actress Sheree Murphy and Emmerdale executive producer Steve Frost chose her to play the mother of Sheree's character Tricia Stokes in the programme especially for the likeness. She has appeared in the programme since 2002, playing Steph Stokes. In June 30 2006, Lorraine announced that she was to quit Emmerdale and would leave at the end of the year, saying she felt she had taken the character of Steph "as far as she can go".

In January 2008 she talked of returning to Emmerdale, but only if they give her a deep sun tan, red suits, a BMW and make her a part time P.E teacher. She also wished her character name be changed by deed poll to Wendy[1]

[edit] Accident

In 2000, she was almost killed in a car crash when the car she was driving plummeted 30 foot down a bridge and she had to be cut from the wreckage. She spent four days in hospital with facial injuries and had to have part of her ear sewn back on after it was ripped off.
