Lorne Waldman is a lawyer in Canada practicing primarily in Toronto.
His law firm, Waldman and Associates, is considered one of the best immigration law firms in Canada. He has published Law and Practice an authoritative reference material on immigration law in Canada.
He received his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto.
He has been involved in many precedent setting cases including:
- representing the Senate of the Republic of Italy in its intervention before the Supreme Court of Canada where it declared the death penalty unconstitutional
- Maher Arar at the Public Inquiry into his rendition to Syria
- The Canadian Bar Association in its intervention before the Supreme Court in the Security Certificate Cases
- Amnesty International in its challenge of the designation by Canada of the United States as a country that complies with the Refugee Convention and the Convention Against Torture
- As co-counsel in the Class Action brought by Alan Hinton which challenges the legality of the fees charged by Canada Immigration
