Lorne Craner

Lorne Craner is president of the International Republican Institute (IRI), a Washington, D.C.-based United States non-profit organization involved in the support of democracy in countries around the world.

Craner assumed leadership of IRI on August 2, 2004. From 2001 to 2004, Craner served as Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the United States Department of State. Craner previously served as IRI's president from 1995 to 2001.
