Loring Hall

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Loring Hall is a Grade II listed building and mental health care facility in North Cray, Kent. Starting in 1811, it was the residence of the Viscount Castlereagh, who killed himself there in 1822. The building was first constructed in 1760, and was last used as a residence by Castlereagh. Its status from his death until the late 20th century is unclear. It was, however, used as a BUPA care home until 1999 when it was bought by a charity called Sargent Cancer Care for Children, who in turn sold it in 2003 to a company called Oakfield Care. Since March 2004, it has been a care facility for those with learning disabilities.
