[edit] History
The school was founded in 1854 by the then Bishop of Raphoe, Dr. McGettigan. The day-school opened on September 4 1854 with five pupils.
A Concert Hall was built in 1939 and further extensions were added in 1972, 1978 and 1986, bringing the school to its present standard of accommodation and facilities. Another extension has been built recently.
From the 1920's until 1976 The Convent was an all-Irish school. It ceased as a boarding school in 1978.
The Convent celebrated its 150th birthday in 2004 with a weekend of celebrations and fun in its grounds.
The present enrolment is over one thousand students.
