Lord Sarabhesvara is a fearsome Form of Lord Shiva, an aspect of God in Hinduism.

In Hindu belief, Lord Shiva took the form of a Sharaba, which is part-lion, part-human and part-bird. In this fierce form, Lord Shiva is known as Lord Sarabhesvara.

Lord Sarabhesvara engaged Lord Narasimha, an Avatar of Lord Vishnu in combat, in order to quell Narasimha's terrifying rage, which had not dissipated even after He (Narasimha) had slain the wicked rakshasa king Hiranyakashipu.

Very soon Lord Narasimha realised that the Sharaba was none other than Lord Shiva. He saluted Sharabhesvara, shed His wrath and became pleasant to be worshipped by Prahlada and other devotees.
