Lord Nelson elementary was founded in the 1950's, and many of its early students were of Italian descent, as this is a large ethnic group in the Hastings-Sunrise area. Now, however, almost 60% of enrolled students are of Asian descent.
[edit] Programs
Lord Nelson Elementary currently houses one of Vancouver's Multi-Aged Cluster Classes. Formerly taught by Ms. Tricia Stec and Mme. Sylvie Lanmark-Kaye, Milo Wu has since taken over.
There are also English Second Language and TM programs, as well as an Autistic Educational facility.
