Lord Lieutenant of Bristol
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of Lord Lieutenants of the City of Bristol.
The position of Lord Lieutenant of Bristol has existed for hundreds of years. It was usually held by the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire except for a period from 1660 to 1672, when it was held by the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset. On 31 March 1974 the position was replaced with that of the Lord Lieutenant of Avon, but was restored on 1 April 1996 as a separate Lord Lieutenancy.
