Lord Lawson of Beamish Community School is a comprehensive school in the Gateshead area of Tyne and Wear, England. The school is named in honour of Jack Lawson, a prolific British trade unionist. The school has over 1,500 students and was recently rebuilt on the same site. The new build was completed in September 2007. The demolishing of the original building is almost complete. The school is a specialist Arts College and 'Leading Edge' school. The school was graded at the standard of 'Outstanding' by Ofsted 2006, scoring highly in all categories except for the facilities. The Ofsted inspection took place before the move to the new build. The new building was constructed by the Sir Robert McAlpine Building Company, founded by Sir Robert McAlpine, 1st Baronet.
