Alan Haworth Labour party member. Born Blackburn 1948. Secretary of the Parliamentary Labour Party 1992-2004. Elevated to the House of Lords 2004.
Educated at St Silas, CoE School, Blackburn and Blackburn Technical & Grammar School
Attended St Andrews to study medicine, but left after one years study.
Author of 113 obituaries of former Labour MPs, some published in The Politico's book of the Dead 2003. Joint editor (with Diane Hayter) of Men who Made Labour, obituaries of the first 29th Labour MPs elected to Parliament in 1906.
