Lord Ahriman (born Micke Svanberg), whose name is derived from Ahriman (Persian اهريمن), the evil equivalent of the deity Ahura Mazda in Zoroastrianism, is a Swedish musician and composer best known as the primary guitarist, frontman and songwriter of black metal band Dark Funeral, and he is the only founding member left. He is also rhythm guitarist in Wolfen Society.

[edit] Biography
Originally from a small town in the north of Sweden, Ahriman had developed an interest in music from a very young age. Hailing from a somewhat musical family, he has cited his grandmother, mother and younger sister as somewhat influential and he had started songwriting himself between 1989 and 1990.
Harbouring passionate interests for Satanism (ostensibly that of the LaVeyan variant) and extreme metal as a teenager, he was introverted in his environment. When he was eighteen years old, he left for Stockholm, home to extreme metal acts such as Entombed and Dismember, whom Ahriman already knew personally.
In 1993, he founded Dark Funeral with fellow guitarist Blackmoon (David Parland). As he progressed in his career, he felt significant sense of accomplishment upon completion of each Dark Funeral album. Although 2001's Diabolis Interium is more widely recognised as the band's greatest masterpiece, Ahriman felt he had advanced further with 2005's Attera Totus Sanctus, particularly with his compositional skills.
Although Ahriman is an elitist, he is not a purist like some notable black metal musicians and many black metal fans[citation needed]. He has in fact been an active participant in death metal, a movement detested by the purists. Prior to founding Dark Funeral he played in a blackened death metal band called Satan's Disciples, and he has a side-project called Wolfen Society, whom released an MCD "Conquer Divine" in 2001, although difficulties with No Fashion Records hindered its success. Ahriman and other Dark Funeral members were forced to have side-jobs after No Fashion exploited them. Consequently, Dark Funeral have filed suit against No Fashion, and are spearheading a campaign against corrupt record labels.[citation needed]
Lord Ahriman is married and has two children. His family is highly supportive of him in his work.[citation needed]
