Ryan Looney is a Detroit-area musician who has been in the indie rock scene since 1998. Playing in various acts throughout the years, he has become a powerful, influential drummer with his explosive, yet technical playing abilities.
Ryan was born on November 24, 1979 in Wyandotte, Michigan. He attended Southgate Anderson High School in Southgate, Michigan and Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He played in various bands throughout his high school and early college years, most notably the bands Segway, The Surgery, Tricia Concepcion, He graduated from EMU in 2004 while at the same time, substitute teaching in the Wyandotte school district. He joined on as full-time drummer of the Detroit rock quartet, Bedford drive in June, 2003, replacing ex-drummer Jason Croft. It is when Ryan joined Bedford Drive that they started touring and began receiving recognition from major industry media, such as being voted one of America's Top 10 Unsigned Bands by Alternative Press Magazine In 2005, he helped form the band The Cast, The Camera, fronted by Jon Berz with bass playing from Bedford Drive's own Edward Sertage.
